What is Kobido?
Kobido is a fascinating Japanese facial massage technique that has gained popularity in the recent years for its rejuvenating effects. Kobido dates back to the 15th century. It focuses on rejuvenating the face, promoting relaxation, and enhancing overall well-being. Using a combination of gentle, rhythmic strokes, acupressure, and stretches, Kobido massage stimulates circulation, increases lymphatic drainage, and tones the facial muscles. This helps to improve the complexion, reduce puffiness, and minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Origins of Kobido:
In the 15th century, Kobido sprouted from a friendly competition between two esteemed Anma massage masters. Their goal? To showcase high-level facial massage techniques, including the intriguing Kyoku-Te—a percussive method using folded hands.

The Essence of Kobido:
Kobido isn’t merely a surface facial treatment; unlike many modern face massages. It delves deep into the muscles beneath the skin. With over 1000 techniques, Kobido weaves a tapestry of healing. Its history spans 540 years, and the fusion of these techniques resulted in 48 unique methods. Today, Dr. Shogo Mochizuki, the 26th generation master of Kobido, carries forward this ancient tradition. He is the custodian of the techniques, ensuring their continuity.
French Fascination:
In France, where beauty is revered, Kobido has captured hearts. It’s now interpreted as an art form demanding skill akin to other revered Japanese practices like Sado (tea ceremony) and Kado (flower arrangement). Only about 50 therapists worldwide have learned the orthodox Kobido method directly from Dr. Shogo Mochizuki. Remarkably, only 5 of them reside in France. Among these French therapists is Delphine Langlois, a facialist who played a pivotal role in popularising Kobido in France. She spent years mastering the techniques and opened her own salon in Paris, catering to VIP clients.
