Reiki

Reiki is a way to achieve physical, mental
and spiritual harmony, which,
according to the Eastern medicine,
is a guarantee of good health

Reiki name – consists of two parts “rei” and “ki”. Rei means universal energy animating everything around, or divine force or source of love. Ki (Chinese chi) is individual energy.  Each of us has a unique Ki of its own. The Earth, the Sun, the Moon, plants and animals – all have Ki.  By juxtaposing these two concepts of Rei – ki, we get the energy of love that connects each of us with universal energy.

How Does Reiki Work?

Reiki is the art of using the energy of the universe based on five principles that Mikao Usui passed on to his successors and which are still relevant today.

According to Usui, Reiki is an energy that permeates everything and everyone. Each of us is influenced by it, but not all of us are able to draw from it so that we can use it to improve the quality of our lives and the lives of others. Reiki is used to promote healing and relaxation. Practitioners of Reiki aim to tap into this vital energy and channel it to balance the body, mind, and spirit.

Reiki is not only a therapy. For many it is also a system of living in such a way as to derive joy and a sense of fulfilment from it. The principles that Mikao Usui gave, which are something like the five commandments, are significant here. For many Reiki masters, these rules are a kind of moral code that they follow in their lives.

Benefits

Reiki may help to achieve physical, mental and spiritual harmony, which, according to the Eastern medicine, is a guarantee of good health. Disturbances in this harmony are manifested through health problems and problems in life.

Stress Reduction
Chronic stress has a detrimental impact on our physical and mental health. Research has demonstrated that Reiki treatment can significantly reduce stress levels by activating the relaxation response, lowering heart rate, blood pressure, and cortisol levels. This, in turn, supports the body’s natural healing processes.

Pain Management
Reiki can be very helpful in managing pain. While the exact mechanisms are not fully understood, it is believed that Reiki’s ability to promote relaxation and reduce stress contributes to its pain-relieving effects.

Mind-Body Connection
Reiki treatment recognises the intricate connection between the mind and body. This approach aligns with the principles of psychoneuroimmunology, which explores the interplay between our thoughts, emotions, and immune system.

Placebo Effect
It is important to acknowledge that the placebo effect may play a role in the perceived benefits of Reiki treatment. However, studies have shown that even when participants are unaware they are receiving Reiki, they still experience positive outcomes. This suggests that there may be more to Reiki than just a placebo effect, warranting further scientific exploration.

I encourage my clients to approach Reiki with an open mind, embracing both its spiritual and scientific dimensions

What Does The Reiki Treatment Look Like?

The person undergoing the treatment is lying down and stays fully clothed. During the procedure, the client calms down and relaxes. The whole procedure consists in transferring energy by putting the therapist’s hand to different places on the patient’s body.

The frequency of Reiki treatments depends on the health and general condition of the person in need. Depending on the needs, it can be a few or a dozen meetings. However, in more demanding cases, even a few months of therapy is recommended. All these procedures and their adjusted frequency are aimed at restoring the energy balance in the patient’s body.
